Hi I posted a while back in search of some info
On changing the aux belt on a a200 2015 2.1 diesel.
Theres absolutely mo info or videos on my variant engine.the belt is on the left next to the engine mount. Any help would be great.

I can only suggest removing the engine undertray and relevant wheel arch liner with the car up on a lift to gauge access from underneath. Some operations on the transverse engined A class involve supporting the engine temporarily on a jack platform in order to remove the engine mount temporarily for access- dont know if this applies in this instance?

Changing a serp belt is child's play. Find the method of moving the tensioner to release the tension on the belt (often a square hole that accepts a 3/8 square drive). Fit the new one while holding the tensioner as before for the last pulley, release the tensioner - job done. All that complicates it is access. Unless someone tells you exactly what needs to be removed for access (have you searched for YouTube video?) then you just have to dig in and remove what is necessary (while being prepared for the scenario as outlined by Grober above).

Easier said than done.cant see hardly any of the pulleys looks like engine mount has to come off.worried on how best to support it.
Theres loads of vids on serpentine belts for forward facing engines.none for mine.
Someone must have attempted it.just looking for dos and don'ts.
I'm quite capable just like to be prepared.

Think it does bud.was hoping the mount could stay.

If mount removal is based on the posted video on your other thread - that is for a timing not serpentine belt. Serps don't have such a small diameter drive pulley and aren't so close to the block. They are also more flexible.
As before, it's the transverse engine that is going to give you grief. You just have to remove anything you have to and accept it as a compromise that compact cars struggle to avoid.

That's where my serpentine is same as in vid.although it has more pullies and a different tensioner but looks like mount has to come off as in vid.

I'll have another look at the vid and get back to you.

OK, I've watched the vid - 4 mins in is enough. You should manage this without too much difficulty.
The engine mount removal appears to permit engine lowering to help access. Not because it prevents belt removal. You will need a jack though - possibly two if you want the car raised also but one jack and an axle stand/block should see you through.
Not sure how much other stuff you will have to remove but you don't need access to the top of the engine as required for timing belt change. So start at the bottom via the wheel arch and take it from there.
The biggest difficulty typically on a job like this is having the correct tools compatible with access. Typical is eg, a 5'' extension on a ratchet not quite reaching, adding another to it and there's no room. In that type of scenario a broad selection of tools and ingenuity is required eg, gain an inch by using a UJ - and/or find a 3/8 drive socket that fits and use a mixture of extensions and adaptors from both 3/8 and 1/4'' drives. You can never really know what's required until you get there.
Don't let removing the engine mount deter you though. It appears to be one of the easier elements of the job.

We don't remove the mount when we do them. They are fiddly to say the least.

Hi all done very simple to change.
All back together now wont crank.
Literally key on start half a crank then nothing.
I'm totally stuck now

Did you lower the engine? If so check the engine earth strap- not sure where that is on your model sorry - is the car definitely in neutral/park?

It's an auto it's like a dead battery.
It's still jacked up slightly but all back together.
Even took mounts back off and belt and redid everything.
3 codes came up but no mil lamp.

Had to jump it.
Its put engine management lamp on but cant pull the codes.

Just drive it and see if the EML goes off. Sounds like the battery has gone flat while you have been changing the belt, low voltage can throw all sorts of codes that go away after a good run.

Update took it for a run.
Drives fine and codes gone now.
Could have been flat battery.
Never done that before.
Very strange.
