I have a 2004 clk 320 and I'm thinking of changing out the air filters for a performance set.

Has anyone done this? What have you used? Is it worth it?

I think the general consensus is that the air filters are not limiting the power on the V6. - It may be more useful on an engine with forced induction running higher boost than MB expected.

Having said that, knock yourself out! - There are other benefits like a different induction noise, and being able to clean (rather than replace) the filters.

I would stick to standard, they work and are cheap. So called performance filters don’t filter as well as standard ones.

Forget about getting any extra performance from a "Perfomance" air filter, it just isn't gonna happen...

Search for a filter to fit your model on ebay, list the results as "cheapest including postage first" and buy the first one that comes up.

3 years ago I used this philosophy to buy filters for the OM642 engine in mine, they were £5 a pair!.

When I replaced them, they were exactly the same as the ones fitted already.

A K&N would be more than a fiver, and wouldn't actually work as well when it came to filtering.
