Hi
My recently acquired 2011 C220 is showing that it needs an A7 service which I believe is an interim service.
My local garage that I've used for years is advising a cost of £250 for this (say that oil alone will be around £70).
Just wanted to sanity check this before booking in as I didn't expect it to be this much.
It's 7 speed sport auto with about 70k on the clock.
Thanks

That's the same price my local Merc Dealer just charged me for an A3 service with plus items. If it's a good Indy and they will replace everything with genuine parts and spec'd oil that is reasonable. Not great just reasonable. However if you are unsure what parts are being used you might be better off just going to Merc for near enough the same price.

It's on the high side if it's just a basic oil and filter change and some checks. Did they explain the work they'd be doing. At 5yrs old it might need an ATF change so prepare for a shock!

For reference, you can put the cars details into here https://www.mymercedesservice.co.uk/home and it will tell what needs doing (although it assumes all previous required work has been done at the right time / mileage) and by selecting different dealers you can see what they would charge.

Update - just back from A service at Andy Gayle.
Very pleased - very early start as arranged but was able to wait for car.
Andy made time to have a natter and offer some info and advice about my car despite the place being very busy.
Serviced and fully valeted in about 90 minutes and electronic log updated.
Discussed a few minor items found which may eventually need attention but not yet.
All in all, well worth a bit of a drive to save almost £100 on previously quoted cost.

Are they going to do any software / firmware update when you drop you car for an A / B service ?

If it doesn't need it I doubt it.

Enter your car details here to see what it needs: Mercedes-Benz ESS

My 2012 C-Class CDI 200 needs a service, it shows A7 on the dash. I entered my car details and it showed only really simple things are needed, oil change, wheels/brakes check, check water drain passage, etc.

I contacted the nearest Mercedes service centre and they quoted close to £700 for an A7 service (!!)

I contacted a local independent service centre specialising in Mercedes and they quoted £170 for A7 service and said it only needs: Engine Oil and Engine Oil Filter, Point Check, Tyre Pressures and Diagostic.

And it assumes that all items done have been entered on the system. I was advised of needing an ATF change a year after it was actually done so just be cautious. the dealer printout were more accurate.

At 5 years an ATF change is required but £700 seems very high. Ask for a detailed quote I suggest.

Just for comparison - last Jan my 2008 C220 S204 needed a B5 service. Local main dealer was over £500, local indie just under £300, and invoice stated service carried out in accordance with MB ESS and correct parts used. Guess where the car is going next month for annual service, thermostat change, ATF/filter change!!:):)
