Hi everyone,

Just had a service on my 2012 C250 and all fine but it says next service is A7 which will be about 175000 miles.

if I understand right this will be an A service and an ATF change. This is one of the ones that always confused me as it’s never been clear whether the ATF change was for life or if I will need to do it alongside the A service?

If I do, any clues on what costs I should expect, live between Sheffield and nottingham so am sure there’s a good few to choose from:)

cheers,

Tom

On the 7G+ transmission the ATF change is due every 5 years or 77,500 miles, whichever comes first.

So your car should have already had one ATF change done, and is now due the second.

Costs range probably from ~£250 at an indie and up to ~£400 at a dealer.

The price above is for the ATF change only (not for the A service and ATF change).

So, if you are after dealer service, then consider a 2-year Service Care Plan which will cover both the current A service and ATF as well as the next B service for a fixed cost of £36 per month, I.e. £432 per service.

Thanks Mark.

Couple of services should be less than or around £400 and then even assuming £400 for ATF could say £800 so a service plan costs £64 more (at least probably!)

Do you know if there any other benefits to the service packages or it’s just essentially repackaged finance for a service?

I assuming you are quoting pries from an indy so you don't qualify for MB Mobilo european breakdown recovery and no chance of any goodwill from MB to any other repairs or loan car

Yes

There are plenty of threads on here extolling the virtues of service plan...and of using an indy for an older or higher mileage car...

So does the service plan include breakdown cover?
For as long as you have the car serviced on schedule by a Mercedes dealer, you are covered in the UK and Europe by Mobilo which is the Mercedes roadside assistance service.

But now run by the RAC.

Service A, Service B, ATF, and Brake fluid change, will definitely be cheaper on an MB Service Care Plan than when paying for each service separately - *at an authorised dealer*.

Independents will charge less. So if you have a good independent specialist just stick with them.

The Mobilo roadside assistance is nice to have, but you can also purchase the same level of cover elsewhere.

As for the 30 year anti-perforation warranty, in theory it only applies if the car is being inspected by a dealer every year, but some members here were able to successfully claim on it even though their cars weren't serviced by an MB dealer.
