I brought my a208 with these lights on. I put my code reader on and i got a couple of fault codes that came up, can not remember the codes but it was to do with speed sensor.
Went to check speed sensors and clean them, first one i took off looked little worn so replaced it.
The car gearbox did play up a little but now it runs fine after changing the speed sensor, i dont get any codes anymore but was i start the car the abs, bas/esp light comes back on and dash shows 3 malfunctions. Once u turn engine off and just turn ignition on no malfunctions are showing and there is no fault codes stored.
Can not take it to my local star for scan has they will not do it sat only week days and i work. Car runs lovely just these fault lights need taken off before mot in few month, any ideas folk.

Given the information in other threads; dead (or dying) battery? - With the engine running there's enough voltage, but with it off it starts throwing up errors.

Worth checking anyway; cheaper than taking the ABS apart.

Brake pedal switch. Cheap enough (£7-12) to replace yourself.

Can you post photo of which lights are showing likely to be brake switch, speed sensor or fuse

Its not throwing any codes up , just the fault lights the engine malfunction light does not come on. Thanks

This is common on 208's no codes and no EML just the fault light. Under the bonnet stand facing the car back right is the box containing ECU and diagnostic port. 4 screws hold the cover on remove the cover and there is a row of fuses check the connections on these as these can be the culprit of fault lights

Throttle pedal, faulty throttle body or an air leak can cause ABS/ESP to malfunction too.

That none of the fuses are blown or there are any marks/corrosion on the blades or slots the blades go into. Sometimes they get oxidised which means they work intermittently and throw a fault light. IIRC the one on the ABS/BAS circuit is a 15 amp one bang in the middle of the block known for throwing the lights on.

Many thanks will look tomorrow. I was going to start replacing the rest of the speed sensors

Hope its an easy fix for you I've been down this road myself and ended up at the fuses which sorted it.

Hope so too, bloke brought it from said the lights only came on when he had the disc and pads renewed. Dont think he was honest.
I have renewed all the gearbox oil and filter and the car drives lovely, just up for mot soon and wont pass with these 2 lights on.

Rusty o/s inner wing earthing points behind headlight causes this on W210s.
Have you a bundle of brown wires clamped to a rusty bolt thereabouts?

I have 2 wires on the n/s wing in a small black box, they seemed clean and good. I gave them a squirt of acf 50 for good measures.

Had a similar problem where the ABS/ESP lights would come on whilst driving and would only go off when engine was restarted.

Turned out to be caused by the slightly off centre steering wheel which affects the steering direction sensor.

Slight adjustment of both tie rod ends and problem sorted.

I had my tracking done, might get it checked again.
