2001 ML 270.
Irregular braking/shuddering (possibly the right front) for only seconds at any speed. Sometime 3 times a day then nothing for 2-3 days.
Tests with Star computer indicated brake controller failure, so I've replaced all the tyres, the Stop lamp switch, Lateral and Yaw sensor and the ($$$$) ESP control unit.
It still happens !
What else is next ?

Still having the problem ... possibly a bit less severe. Now the mechanic has found a high tension cable eaten bare by mice!!!!!
The bare cable (near the battery) can sway and touch a chassis part. Also the battery was slightly down on Volts.
Sealed the bare wires and replaced the battery (with a new one).
The brake shuddering happened again !!!!!

Are you still having the same fault code? The travel sensor inside the booster sometimes fails, but star sould be able to pinpoint that directly... solenoid valve of the BAS, front wheel speed sensor?

Thanks for that, will get all of them checked.

Irregular braking/shuddering for only seconds at any speed. Sometime 3 times a day then nothing for 2-3 days. It started after replacing a flat rear tyre with the mini tyre - suggestions that the unbalanced tyres caused it, so I replaced the front to the back and put new tyres on the front. Problems still occurred.
Tests with Star computer indicated brake controller failure, and since then all the tyres, the Stop lamp switch, Lateral and Yaw sensor and the ($$$$) ESP control unit have been replaced.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

I have replaced a few ABS units on the ml's.

You need to get the actual values read on star & check all the sensors and rings.
