ABS & ETS Light On - Advice Please!

Personally, I prefer not to fit lock nuts. If my wheels get kncked, I'll claim the insurance. My attitude is, if they are gonna try and pinch the wheels, and are unable to, they are just as likely to break a window or do other damage.

Good point, but ever since I witnessed my step-fathers brand new Ford Capri propped up by the pavement one side and bricks the other, I realised the importance of locking wheel nuts.

TBH, the wheels are pretty naff at the mo and not likely to be nicked, but I'm considering having them professionaly refurbed - so I'll prob want to have them lockable then.

Cheers,

Si.

The ABS fault will reset on each start up. You have a permenant fault.

If your car has an OBDII socket near the steering wheel then an OBDII diag tool will work, if it only has the MB 38 pin socket in the engine bay then it wont, you will need an appropriate scanner.

See here for CODE READERS

Those code readers from talktomycar are so reasonable for the money! Definately worth a purchase I reckon.

Cheers

yes

Is it on before you press the brake pedal, if not then probably not the switch but still could be.

the light can come on even before the pedal is depressed as its the switch being stuck that causes this issue..

Maybe disconnect it for a mo, would this give a fault condition or fool the brain into thinking all's well?

EDIT: Er, and wouldn't the brake lights be on if it was stuck???

:confused::confused:

I'll get the switch and change it over.

Thanks to all and I'll be back!

Well those who said 'Brake light switch' 10 out of 10, have a smarty!

Changed it this afternoon and :bannana: no ABS/ETS warning lights :D .

Thanks to all for all your help, you rock

PS. I stripped the old switch to see why it had failed, I can post some photos if any one is interested!
