ABS Light on-is it a sign of my Autobox packin' in?

Hi All, I have a 2001 c270cdi Auto.

My ESP light is coming on if I do anything more than gently corner.

It resets after a journey and all is well.

Recently it has started, at slow speeds, to put the brakes on one or more of the wheels, so it shudders quite a bit. When I pull in, turn off and restart it's fine again.

That's how it feels. My merc informed mate has said to forget all that as it's the Gearbox on it's way out, and it's causing the ESP light to cut in.

Either way it's looking expensive - has anybody had this before, and what was or is it?

ESP and the gearbox are two different things. This isn't gearbox related.

Hi Thanks-good news I hope. I'll hesd the ESP way.

I did have the box stick in a low gear near home (after a fast run) a while back.
Worked fine next day and up till now. Should I get a filter and oil change?

How many miles has you done since the gear box fluid was changed?

Hi there,

It's a recent car-5 months or so- and has done 133k. There's nothing to show it's ever been changed.
