C300 2018 & GLA250 2022
Hi
i got my gla250 in July this year. lckd model, locally assembled. when purchased, i was never told i am getting half of active park assist function. didn't cross my mind to ask as my existing c300 and gla200-2018 hv full capability.

so a month a go i found out i cant do parallel active park assist. so i send to the SC, they just reflash the software and pass back to me saying it work now. i did told them that parallel parking doesn't work. i test it my self again, it it still doesn't work.

i send it again to another SC, and they told me my car have SA code saying active park assist only for perpendicular parking (SA code 6**). when i request for a copy of printout, they refuse to give to me saying it merz policy to give it.

i tried to check from lastvin and mb.vin but it says wrong vin. i anyway manage to get tge SA code with wrong description off workshop software.

ok. i have remote codin my car with distronic/fuel lid warning/traffic sign speed limit and enable active park assist from rjautomotive.

while the rest of the coding working, the acttive park assist still cannot the enable the full park assist.

ok traffic sign assist does not detect traffic sign in my country as it different region (wondering how to make it work)

my question, have anyone able to reenable full active patk assist function? or my car do not have the correct hardware?

I think you will find there are electronic chips missing from your vehicle. I do not have "augmented reality" for my sat nav and do not have the wireless phone charger. The "active lane assist" does not seem to function correctly either. I am not bothered about these things as we use Waze for sat nav not the MB built in one, however I would like the "dash cam" facility that is built in. It has the forward camera which works as a parking assist but I cannot get to function as a dash cam. I have asked MB but the reply is "chip shortage" you will NEVER have this facility as the car does not have appropriate hardware now.

The joys of the 21st century
PS not tried the parking assist but fear that may not be working either

Still it is a great car - just have to get on with my life lol

i like and use park assist alot. now i have distronic. marvelous.
if only the sensor and easily diy, i willing to get from ebay and diy . but i do not know which one

My understanding is that there are two separate issues here.

The general semiconductor shortage meant that some cars were missing some options, sometimes seemingly at random.

But regarding Active Parking Assist, this feature was disabled on some models due to incompatibility with UN regulations (lack of sensors in the steering wheel, which are required by the UN directive).

So it depends if Active Parking Assist is not working on the OP's car due to missing chips, or due to it being disabled by software.

As far as I know, it is not possible to re-enable the software via firmware flush (and even if you could, it's not clear how you would go about declaring the modification to your insurer). But I may be wrong.

active park assist still working but only for perpendicular parking. not working for parallel parking. not sure if merz need two controllers for different type of parking mode.
so far on research on ebay theres only one controller for active park assist. (for different model / year)

Are you referring to the “driverless" parking or the “normal" system? I have not used mine (“normal”) for a while but pretty sure the “P” still comes on on both our MBs.

True, Active Parking Assist and Remote Parking Assist are two different options.

automated parking assistance, help you parking without you input while you are in driver seat. i only have perpendicular parking mode.

do you think if i get garage to diagnose, will it able to detect what controller missing? i might able to get it off ebay..

In the UK, we have companies who specialise in retrofits, and they would source any controllers required, install them, and then carry out SCN coding.

SCN coding is the process by which you notify MB's central computer that the particular option has been retrofitted to the car, and in turn the computer then downloads to the car firmware with the correct configuration. Without SCN coding, the car will not know that a missing controller has been installed and will simply ignore it.

This is here in the UK, but I don't know how this will work in Malaysia.

thanks, i might ask rjautomotive to scn coding as they hv remotely retrofit distronic coding to my car.

There is no controller missing if you already have perpendicular parking assist.

Are you sure it is not any operator error? Have you taken into account the restrictions on the older systems, only a space for one car with sufficient margin. The system ignores spaces of several cars. The later ones that use cameras and show per vehicle parking areas, accept spaces of several cars.

i have sighted the SA code that show only perpendicular active park assist given. they dont want to give the data sheet stating merz policy.

You can run the VIN in an online VIN decoder and se for yourself what options your car came with?

tried mb.vin, lastvin and russian one, all gives error.

On the basis we've seen so far, one might think there is an error in the input...
