I'm having difficulty finding any info on Adblue capacity for my C220 W205, the manual just say's "Between 8.5l-24.5l depending on vehicle", not very helpful, and, apart from the message to refill adblue on the screen, is there a way of displaying how much is in the tank, like the fuel gauge kind of thing?

25.5 litres in mine apparently, I have a 2016 E350 S212.
There is a sensor in mine that needed calibrating there is no float type system so far as I know.

Hi Robin,
Thanks for the info but as the book says it will depend on the vehicle and as the E class is bigger (I think) than the C class it would stand to reason that it would be different:confused:

if you press the menu button on the steering wheel and scroll down theres an Adblue heading it shows how much is left as a graphic and how many miles. Its next to the Assystplus option

Chris you are a star, I will check it out in the morning and see if I can find it.
Cheers Mate

I did do this today but unfortunately the 'Adblue' heading isn't on there. I feel a trip to my local MB dealer coming up

I understand that the addition of Adblue to the exhaust gases makes the whole planet a more green place and stops the poor little birds coughing in the trees.....but hauling an additional 20kgs of fluid around with you everywhere you go hardly seems the most efficient way to go about it......:dk:
But I suppose them's the rules.....just who makes the rules?

Unfortunately one can't do much about NOx when engine out exhaust gas has excess oxygen, which is the case with Diesel engines. Addblue SCR has so far been the best solution to reducing tailpipe NOx from diesels. EGR on its own doesn't do enough and in any case pushes up engine out particulates which puts more stress on the DPF.

If gasoline engine technology had gone lean-burn, then they would have same problem. However basing the emissions control on a 3-way catalyst (and now a particulate trap for DI engines), the engine operates around stoichiometric (Lambda 1) so dealing with NOx is more straightforward.

Yes, as in the regulation of motorsport, it seems the manufactures have more resource than the regulation bodies so that the regulations always seem to lag behind the technical developments.
Very few seem to take a holistic view of the whole issue and regulations get put in place as an 'Elasoplast' for a small issue within much more complex environmental problem.

My sister, who specialises in gaming compliance, sees much the same thing in her sphere as on line gaming has mushroomed and brought with it the requirement for a whole new set of complex international regulations.

I went into my local MB dealership at Marsh Barton, Exeter today and spoke to the very nice Kelly from the service department who, after taking some vehicle details, came back with the advice that my particular vehicle has an Adblue capacity of 25.5L. She also said about the Service heading on the display but that not all vehicles have this facility. I must say though that the customer waiting area was very plush with a bean coffee machine, tea making kit, a fridge full of water and soft drinks plus cakes and biscuits for free for waiting customers, Other dealers take note!

I think a lot depends on the driving you do. 20-25k miles a year and always have a few thousand miles of adblue left. It should be topped up as part of the service. I check that by calling up the Adblue menu on the car. surprising if yours doesnt have it. Mine is a late 2016 car. Its under service on the menu same list that has ASSYSTPLUS which tells you when next service due

Hi Chris,
Yes I have checked the for the Adblue heading under service on the display but mine only shows "Days to Next Service", A shame really as the car seems to have everything else short of the kitchen sink!

My C250d is late 2016 & using the steering wheel buttons, it will bring up a gauge showing how much Adblue is in the tank & the remaining miles.

I wonder if it's something that can be activated by an MB Tech, Can anyone confirm this?

I find it very hard to believe if you have Adblue that it isn't there already?

When I visited the MB dealership in Exeter last week to enquire about Adblue capacity for my car they checked their database against my vehicle reg number and confirmed it had a 25 litre reservoir and that not all vehicles have the facility to display current volume. But I wonder if it's something that can be activated?

If it turns out you cannot activate it, then there will still be a warning when the Adblue tanks gets low instructing you to refill it, otherwise the car will not run without any.
If it helps, my manual says my tank holds 23 litres & when full it tells me I have enough for over 13,000 miles.

13,000 miles, That's more than I do in a year

My GLE comfortably goes between annual servicing without top up, it will be about 13k miles in March when due.
I have Adblue at home which I used to fill the Audi A6 with about every 6 months, but the MB boys fill the GLE for me at it's annual service and I have never had a warning come up on the dash.
The dash warning on the Audi was at about 1500 miles, so it's unlikely you would run out the next day...or even month! Plenty of warning given.
