I have recently installed a Carplay device to NTG4.5 but no sound - there is an audio flylead on the harness which I suspect takes an audio lead that maybe needs to be connected somewhere. @Borris1954 mentions it but think he must have an audio socket in his glovebox which I don't? @ChrisPDuck - how did you get on? Maybe I need to route an audio lead to the centre console where I have an audio socket to media connector. Given no glovebox connector, maybe there is a setting I need to change in the Engineering menu? My W204 is facelift if of any consequence. HELP! So near yet so far! LOL @richard - any idea please?

It's not something simple like you needing to turn the volume up on your phone is it? Sometimes when your phone is connected via blutooth the volume resets to off on the handset and needs to be turned up.

Thanks but I think any audio should come through the car speakers? Will give it a go anyway when SWMBO gets home

Definitely should be coming out of the speakers in the car but in addition to the cars volume control the volume on the phone also needs to be turned up too when using Blutooth. Had a wired car play unit in a previous car it often would have no sound until the volume was also turned up on the phone.

On some of these after market car play units the sound goes through an aux cable and needs to connect to the car, either through an "aux in" socket or through the mmi connector, then the head unit set to aux rather than radio etc.

I know the NTG4 uses the cars AUX channel for audio when fitting an Android screen, it is intergrated into the aftermarket loom. It's a crappy 3.5mm plug and socket connection.... But, the NTG4.5 potentially doesn't work the same way on an Android screen or for this adapter which untilises the OEM screen in the dash.

The best thing would be to reach out to the people it was bought from to ask for some assistance, the only issue being it was bought on Aliexpress which could mean difficulty getting any sense from the seller. It was bad enough trying to get sense from Erisin....

It's the reason that after personally going down the Android 13 10.25" screen route, that I returned it. Ran for the hills in repsect of Chinese unbranded crap off eBay and Aliexpress and bought a double DIN Pioneer headunit.

Those Android screens really are dog shite! They look cool almost OEM but the UI is rubbish as is the sound quality and output levels.

The adpater should be just the ticket of you can get the after care. I read that there are several steps in configuring the back end of the OEM settings to allow these adpaters to work properly.... Maybe worth doing a search on Youtube there seems to be plenty of info out there / how-to's... Those adpaters must all use the same sort of method for piping the audio through.

Hi Gollom

My apologies for not seeing this sooner. I don't remember completely, but I don't think I had to use an external audio connection. But I do recall having to enable the Audio AUX on my NTG4 head unit, since the EKIY carplay adapter uses that channel for its audio. Is yours enabled?

If not, there are some good instructions here: How To Activate NTG 4.0 4.5 4.7 OEM Aux - http://bbs.xtrons.com/
That's not the instructions I followed - the EKIY store sent me a link to a video, but I can't find that anymore, and from memory the instruction in my link above are basically the same.

In my case the Audio AUX was greyed out, so I had to follow the procedure detailed lower down in these instructions, involving TGW/MOST. If you need to do this, make a note of the TGW settings before you change anything, because they're going to get reset. In my case I didn't do that, so after the reset I had to guess a bit about what the original settings were, but since they relate to what hardware is installed it wasn't too difficult to figure out the right settings. It would have been less worrying though if I had noted down the settings before changing anything.

Thanks - will give that a go. Been trying to get back in touch with EKIY but there seems to be a problem on the AliExpress chat section
