Adding 2 stroke oil to diesel

Saw on another forum that adding 300ml to 70 litres of diesel apparently improves power delivery, smoothness, quietness and general loveliness.

Urban myth??
 
I think it's quite common in Discovery circles. 250ml of low ash 2 stroke per tank is often quoted as the optimum amount.

From what I gather it the "low ash" part which is important.

Yes, it's a bit of a big thing on the Discovery3 forum.

I keep meaning to try it on my TDV6.
 
Seems important to the Landcruiser community too.

Must be a 4x4 thing.
 
A dollop of Castrol R might make the exhaust fumes smell a bit nicer :)
