The cheapest I can get my insurance down to is around £760, if i add my ex-partner as a second driver it drops to around £640.

Can I just add her? She wouldn't know anything about it, or ever drive the car.

Cheers,

You can do... but most proposal forms or statements of facts mention frequency of use for additional drivers.

If you declare it's casual / occasional use, then you're running the risk of being found to have presented incorrect material information, same as if you're still categorising yourselves as partners.

Chances of the insurers finding out..? Well, as they say you pays yer money and takes yer chances.

I wouldn't. It's fraud.

Sorry, I'll take my anorak back off now!

Put any relative or friend on it whom you might want or allow to drive the car. Your neighbour even. If it was parked somewhere and you broke a leg, who might drive it home for you? Make sure you get their consent.

It almost doesn't seem to matter about driving record either - my daughter wanted her boyfriend on her insurance - has was 19 at the time, had recently written off a nice BMW and had speeding tickets, and the premium went down! Yes it was all declared. She had a clean license.

If you're not in contact with her any more how will you answer the questions regarding convictions and claims?
