I've got a C32 AMG estate and one of the few things I don't like about it (apart from the wheels - see an earlier thread) is the awful 'V6 Kompressor' badges on the front wings. When Autocar first reviewed the C32 back in March 2001 they commented on how ugly these badges looked! See below for what I mean:

V6 Kompressor badge

I'm thinking of removing these badges and would appreciate any advice on how best to do it without spoiling the paintwork (obsidian black).

I'm also thinking of replacing them with chrome AMG badges which I've seen advertised on eBay. I know Guy the moderator has done this and it looks pretty cool. What's the best way of sticking these on or do they come with adhesive/double sided tape?

Thanks! ;)

The badges just peel off , or the stubborn ones need a little coaxing with some dental floss to take away the gumming.

When they are off , you can either use an alchohol wipe to take away the double sided tape left ( if any) or a little t Cut to remove the dirt lines that will be there :)

Those UGLY badges cost £20 each from the parts department

They only look ugly because your bodywork is black . . . should have got silver :p :D

eh' fuzzer ? ;)

DISCLAIMER : NO OFFENCE INTENDED !!!!! :D I'd be happy with a C32 AMG Estate in ANY Colour !!!

I agree! But it was the only estate I could find for less than £30k and my last two BMW convertibles were in titanium silver so I fancied a change...! And shouldn't silver be confined to saloons??!! ;)

Anyway, it was Autocar not me who said they were "ugly" but having seen Guy's C32 with the AMG badges instead I think it looks much classier. Mind you, that could also be because of those amazing 19" Brabus wheels he's got!

Deffo should have gone for Silver - and perhaps Rushscored4 could make Fuzz an offer to sell the badges - I'm sure Jason'll have somewhere to put 'em :p :p

Personally, Black would be my preferred colour for a C32, or any other AMG for that matter - however I would debadge it completely, and maybe put a C180 badge on just to irritate people :D

<gosh - didn't realise I had such an evil streak !>

Get prices from the stealership first, the AMG badges aren't too expensive.

Are you taking about the badge or the reflection of the bloke taking the picture?!!! :) ;)

Now you can slag the bloke taking the pickie all you want .. cause its not me :D

Wish I had an E55 with 'V8 Kompressor' on the side :( I wouldn't debadge it.

Best way to get badges off is to wait for a hot day, let the sun shine on it for a while and then get a hair dryer and blow hot air on it for a few minutes!
The badges will just peel off then!

or pour warm/hot water over the badges to warm them up ... waiting for the sun could take a wee while

Will not stop me from adding my comments :o

Use dental floss, and apply some washing up liquid to it, and then gently saw through the adhesive, which if anything is left afterwards, can be removed with white spirit.

Doesn't necessarily need a hot day, a hair dryer on the hot setting works great, and an old credit card to slip behind the badge to prise it off.
