Is it possible to add full electric memory seats to a facelift W208 and what would be needed to accomplish this? I've got a tame auto electrician on board but any pointers would be really helpful.

I would buy from a breaker as the new modules are expensive and you also need the switch units and the wiring harness

Thanks. I should have mentioned that present the seats are the standard semi electric and its a CAN Bus car if that makes any difference. Where do the modules go?

The modules sit in the doors I believe though the existing ones are on the seats. I am 99 % sure on this

Looking again the seat modules could be under the seats

Thanks Television. Is this the diagram for the partial seats that I have in the car now as I want to upgrade to fully electric memory seats? Also, as it is a CAN Bus car does this need anything done by the dealer once the memory seats are fitted?

Yes I would have said that they need activating, otherwise the car will not know that they are there

This will be expensive. You need new door controllers because the memory seats also store the mirror settings, switch panel for each door, looms and new seat frames with all the motors in them! Plus you will need some coding done. Are you sure you want to do this?

Hi Alfie, I've got the seats coming so it's the switches, wiring looms and controllers although I did wonder what part of the looms are required as there are controllers under the seats for the basic function they have now or do these become redundant?

As to the coding, my dealer is pretty good ever since I installed Comand and have shown quite an interest so I'm hopeing he'll be persuaded to help on the coding side!

Does any one know what the part number are for the door control units for memory seats in a 2000 year CLK as my local Merc garage is struggling (my car is a WDB208.347)?

Just find a CLK430 (they have memory seats as standard) and make a note of the chassis number. The dealer can then get the door controller part numbers from that.

Thanks Alfie. There are actually two listed for each side even for the 430 (2108207726, 2088203326 and 2108207826 and 2088203226) and the 2108207726 + 2108207826 seem to be generic and used on all the models including mine which only has partial electric seats with no memory as standard.

Did they use the 210 as standard after a while for all the cars which also contained the capability to do the full memory seats?

The A210 part numbers are listed against W208 cars which have Memory package for seats/mirrors/steering column option (Code 275) So I would go for those ones myself.

I thought I should update on this project as there appears to be limited information available.

First, this can be quite expensive BUT if you get the seats cheap enough AND you have a similar car to mine (CLK 230K Coupe, Avantgarde 2000 year, partial electric seats) it may not be as expensive as you think.

The standard door controllers in mine are part numbers 2108207826 and 2108207726 and if you have these they will work with memory seats (£95 + VAT if you don't).

The seat controllers came with my new memory seats and are part numbers 2088200526 and 2088200626 (£205 + Vat each ).

The door cards in my car had the switches for the partial seats so didn't need changing but if you don't have these they can be expensive (£458 + VAT for leather ones!!)

That left me the wiring loom, door switches and Blackeye maple wood covers for the switches to purchase. The switches are part numbers 2108209110 and 2108209010 and are £77.50 + VAT but are available second hand especially in America where all CLK (and W210 E Class) seem to have power seats!!

The Blackeye maple covers were £72.50 + VAT and are difficult to find second hand so I had to get these new.

The wiring loom is a reasonable £55 + VAT (part number 2085404007) but is required as different plugs are fitted on the full memory and partial seats control units.

Fitting is straight forward in that you remove the seats (front and the back base cushion) the drivers side rear quarter panel, the front carpets and the plastic vent tunnels. Remove the old loom and follow the same path for the new one adding the additional wires into the rear fuse box (I think positions 6 and 9 were used by my original seats and 6,7,8 and 9 by the new ones). Take the path down the drivers side and loop it under the center console (you may need to loosen this or remove it). The orange CAN bus wires go into the block connector behind the passenger kick panel (where you removed the old ones).

Fit the blackeye maple wood to the switches then take the door panels off, remove the old switches and plug the new ones in.

A quick trip to the dealers to switch the function on and then your're done, well in theory except in my case they didn't work which turned out to be a bad earth!

Many thanks goes to Medway Mercedes and Steve in Kent for all their help and advice.

Now on to the memory mirrors.....:bannana:
