Hi everybody. I'm looking for a little advice.
I would possibly like to add a seat to the back of a 1996 Sprinter van. Fabrication of seat and belt mounts is not a problem but I want to know where I stand legally. Does the installation have to be inspected/approved ?
Obviously my insurance company will be notified etc.

My possible plan is to fit a single seat in the back or a single front passenger seat and the old twin seat in the rear.

I'm currently at the planning stage of my next overland adventure vehicle build.
For the next few trips I will not be needing four wheel drive so am considering a van set up to seat and sleep 4 and keep tools, equipment and mountain bikes hidden from view.

Any advice appreciated!

if its a campervan (motorcaravan as per the dvla) then they are exempt from seatbelts....

I have a pair of integrated seatbelt coach seats that I have sold twice on fleabay that I was going to scrap as neither buyers turned up, if you want them then cover the courier costs and they are yours. Possibly a beer too...

The van would be converted permanently, so I'm sure a change of use would be possible.
The coach seat sounds like a good plan, Do you have any idea how much the postage costs would be?

Thanks, I will look into it and pm you to make some arrangements.
