Does anyone know about any issues that would stop me from buying this model (2014 plate)?

This car would be fairly near the top of my list of cars not to buy.
1. Very short range on battery power - most of the time it is just a 2.1 litre diesel that has to lug around the battery pack and associated hybrid powertrain - so the standard diesel car must be more economical.
2. There have been a number of posts on here by owners of these cars who have had problems getting their cars repaired by MB - lack of trained techs it would appear. The default diagnosis seems to be that a new battery pack is required at £10k +
3. The ad blue system on these cars can be troublesome and is pretty expensive to maintain / repair - google w213 nox sensors.
I can imagine that these cars must be pretty difficult to sell at 8 years old.

I was considering one a few years ago but was told by the head technician at the Mercedes dealer I used at the time to avoid like the plague. They had many issues with the interface between the engine and the battery and nobody knew how to fix them.

It wasn't long after that Mercedes stopped selling that model diesel hybrid.

That was good enough for me.

Diesel and Hybrid ......what's not to like?....Oh yes....BOTH!

I saw a couple advertised on autotrader and though they looked well spec'd , reasonable mileage and ok price.
I am glad I came onto the forum for advice, I will go diesel or petrol now. Thanks for your advice.

I've delayed buying a 2014 ish E or S class hybrid for more than a year now, waiting to find someone who's an Evangelist for them having had a successful and justified few years with one.

Haven't found one yet. Still know lots of people who love their petrol or diesels.

And, has been said, hybrid diesel stop/start is not a natural efficient or frugal combination for the world.

.

Hybrid cars benefit the manufacturer as the emissions are lower (in the test environment at least) and it helps the manufacturer to meet its overall emissions targets and avoid large fines. There is some benefit to the consumer of a PHEV but even that is questionable given the extra weight and complexity of the car.

I had a new one in 2014, I personally loved it and it gave me 2 years of trouble free motoring, they are quite swift and economical on longer runs, I got 50 plus mpg in France.

That said my car benefited from manufacturers warranty so gave me that extra peace of mind.

If buying from a main dealer you should get 12 months warranty but it would be worth checking what is covered.

I personally would not buy one as they are quite complex and the hybrid battery is very expensive.
