I hav a mercedes E250d on a 98 R fitted with 18" AMG alloys its sittin as high as a truck at the Mo need to get some lowering springs in. Any advice on what brand to go for, how much mm front and back i want it to sit low but dont want to damage my shocks or anytning else.

I was considering Eibach or H&R but still dont know how much mm to go for any adivice appreciated.. Also could you tell wheres the cheapest place i could get springs from dont think many people stock H&R..

I have used Eibach on mine ... dropped by 30mm all round and cured the "sniffing dog" posture ... specialists dealers (look in Max Power for examples of companies) will advise on optimum drop height ... the lower, the harder the ride ...

I've dropped a lot of cars in the past (although not Mercs), I would say 40mm drop as a max or things are going to get uncomfortable. Best to stick with 30-35mm

Please be aware of a few issues:

1. Your car has spring-perches on top of the suspension to even-out the ride height between vehicles of the same trim level but with different specifications/options. The thickness of the perch/shim and the amount of options/equipment/ICE directly affects the ride height of the vehicle. You can change these perches to alter ride height without the need for aftermarket suspension components, make sure you know what perch/shim setup you have before ordering anything. Each perch/shim has a marking on it so you can find out the thicknesses, here is an example pic of my own car's 3-dot perch on the front suspension:

This means I could fine-tune my setup by up to about 10mm either way by just changing the rubber perch, they are very cheap to buy (like £2 or £3 each!). Check yours!

2. Be careful with lowering claims, not only with regards to the above comment about the perches/shims, but also because some models are lower than others BEFORE a suspension kit is bought. A "classic" model sits 10mm higher than an "avantgarde" model, if the kit "lowers by 30mm", how high will either car be with a generic lowering kit installed? :)

Thanks for the advice much appreciated
