Got a few scratches/scuffs I want to remove from the engine cover on my C43, and seeking advice, please. None of them are deep scratches i.e. red paint isn't broken but you can feel some of them with your fingernail._1.jpg_2.jpg_3.jpg

Autosol on a microfibre cloth. I used it on the "wooden" centre console of my Range Rover. Worked a treat, scratches gone:)

How much is a new cover?

Probs need a serious amount of cutting with a dual action polisher / respray if the scratches are too deep.

Or just close the bonnet and forget about it

I guess mr mechanic has just launched it upside down at one point across the garage floor. Sounds like a dealership 'master technician'

Returned from a body shop repair like this...... I was wondering about using VERY fine grade wet/dry paper and then polishing.

I have done that before. Think i used like 2000 grit wet and dry and then a rotary polisher. End result was good. Those scratches do look deep though.

However it is already broke so if you break it even more and go through the paint then i guess a respray was the worst option from the start
