:bannana:Hi again,
Just a quick update. Yet more good news, Still on for getting the car tomorrow.PLUS...Managed to get a free plug change:D Apparently having this done would cost an arm and a leg?. Watch this space...

I think it has 24 plugs so yes it costs several arms/legs.

I learnt that the phrase cost an arm and a leg related to when you had your portrait painted, just a head was a certain price but the rest' would cost you an arm and a leg. Lots of quotes today are biblical or naval in origin. I will get me coat!

Cl600 update

Hi everyone.
My new pride and joy (CL600) was delivered as promised yesterday evening. Runs like a dream and it is obvious that the car has been well looked after.
Has anyone any idea of where I can get some genuine Mercedes mats (ribbed) tried the local Merc dealer but no go,no problem obtaining a set for the new model, but not for the old onr (2005).
Thanks again to all that took an interest. John (woodythewise)

Try googling 'inchcape mercedes', they should have them.

welcome to the world of v12 biturbo, even though i have had issues with mine it is without doubt the finest engine ive ever experienced.
Nothing but the most exotic cars will be with you on the road.
as james may would say the v12biturbo or to give it its other name, the mercedes 'move over poor person' :-]

Thanks for tip.I tried Inchcape, no go for my year. Sent Jacksons a request via email. My local dealer did a search, no longer available, perhaps I will be lucky and find a 'new old stock, that or I can cut a hole in the bedroom carpet (under the bed)

Think I would take a spare pair of underpants when you take it out for a test drive !

Hi, over the years (I am a youngish 60) I have had some fine cars (and a few dogs)Took the car for a long drive today to stretch its legs so to speak.Well, what can I say,if I knew what they feel like when you unleash a few of the horses,I would have had on a long time ago. This is the 2nd Mercedes I have had,the 1st being a 560 SEL (87) in 1990,I did not have any trouble at all with it.We lived in Germany for a long time, cars like the mercs eat up the miles.I look forward to doing a few miles over the next few months. Regards,John (woodythewise)

Great news you have the car and hopefully some nice roads to use it.

As for mats I would not go for the 'riibbed' ones but the 'flat' style. I have the ribbed ones in both our cars and they seem to attract dirt like magnets and harder to clean.

Welcome to the club! I hope you have many years of joy driving one of nicest looking cars with one of the most refined engines merc ever built. Make sure you have the car continuously covered under warrantee, it will be worth it. Do a search here on the forum on things o look out for, it's a gold mine of information. Mel.

yeah a warranty is a must i think, they are good but when something goes wrong it is a 100k plus car.

Hi,Thanks for the tip on the mats,I was just going after what the chap in the Merc dealers stores said, he said the flat/velour ones "did not last two minutes" however, after what you have said,I will stay clear of the ribbed ones.
Thanks also to the people who advised keeping the car in warranty,I will ask the dealer.
The number plate on the car is S600 ??? may be able to sell that on. Woody.

Congratulations on the new car.

The velour mats aren't too bad, the ribbed mats are more longer lasting however the velour mats do look nicer.

Look forward to seeing some pictures of your car when you get a moment...

The mats are there to collect the dirt. The ribbed mats do it better. QED.
You could always put a mat on top of the mat to keep them clean...ad infinitum.
Dark colour mats will hide the dirt better and provided the colour is complementary to the interior should not detract from the interior.

^ hehehe your right....

I have grey mats (the ribbed ones) with Black velour ones ontop....

Grey is not a good colour with kids...

:)

Piccies

Look forward to seeing some pictures of your car when you get a moment...

So far so good. I live 450 miles from my dad so looking forward to seeing it in the flesh soon.

Once again, thank you to my son 'muthaducka' for posting my photographs. .and once again thank you to all who have taken an interest. one reason why the sill plates (chrome) are unmarked is that the protectice blue tape had not been removed from new,the same for the tape on the doors. On checking the spare wheel the jack and other 'bits' are just as shown in the owners book, down to the pair of unworn white cotton gloves, the car looks a few months old at the most, even the brake discs and calipers are like new. I have now had the chance to have a good look for rust in all the places mentioned in this forum,I have not found any at all,I hope my good luck holds.
I traded in a VW Phaeton for this Merc,if anyone is thinking of buying one PLEASE send me an email first.
Other cars I have owned are a merc 560 SEL,Cosworth,Camaro,Jag,Audi 100 and 200,escort,morris,Passat,Golf,Lexus,saab,in fact,in total over 60 cars,some better than others.regards to all members,John

Goodness me that is a handsome and immaculately well kept machine!
