Good evening,

I posted for first time few days ago about things to look for on a 2003 w211 E270 when buying.

Anyway I took plunge and bought it, there was no service history but had a low mileage of 87k.

I have now changed oil, air, pollen, fuel filters, thermostat, oil change and Aux belt. Gearbox oil also changed.

Is there anything else I should do that might not have been done?

Next task is to try and track down previous owners / service history!

All in all I love the car and is my first MB[emoji51]

Brake fluid?

If, as I suspect, it has SBC fitted then brake fluid changes are best left to a specialist especially as it is your first MB.

Thanks will get that done next. What is the approx cost for that?

I am used to doing most repairs myself but I am used to Audi and Vw so wouldn’t want to mess it up!

- Brake fluid change (as above)

- Engine coolant change

Apart from these two you have covered all of the scheduled maintenance items.

I may have misled you- the SBC pump is not a maintenance item. Its a potential fault to look out for. The pump has an operations counter which permits it to operate a fixed no of times before flagging its inopperable. This can be reset thro software to extend its life but after that the pump has to be replaced. lots of info on here just stick SBC BRAKES or SBC PUMP into the forum search box.
ps I didn't spot DSM10000 had already posted this:oops:

Get it hooked up to STAR at an independent. This can show you any historic faults and current faults - or of course give a clean bill of health. Well worth doing

Does anyone know any good independents in the Ayrshire area?

Start a separate thread for your new problem.

Will do thanks
