V8 500 for me anyday, ran one for 4 years with no problems other than a few tiny things associated with older cars. Like a previous poster says not much less frugal than a 6 and much quicker. V12 is a different machine altogether and best left to the rich. They do rust (wings, arches, doors, near bootlock etc) so be careful and buy with your eyes open. Plently of well maintained low milers around, they surely have to be the bargain Merc of the moment.
