... the c class is arriving today. And about time!! Merc made a big mess up and their computer system showed the car at the dealership and when they went to PDI it... "where the!?" turns out the transporter was meant to have picked it up but it was actually still sat at the port :( so after two weeks of messing around I've had a call saying they're setting off from the dealership and it should be here within the next hour :D Woooo cant wait  albeit its only a C180K but hey im only 18 so im not fussed :p ahhhh the joys of heated seats :bannana: lol

i hope you get a great deal of pleasure from it, im sure you will ;)

YAY!!!! She's arrived and looks the dogs! Its raining and im at work so I can't have a proper snoop round but it looks great in diamond black because you can see the nice blue colour coming through. It looks amazing with the simple but effective lip spoiler, huuuuge exhaust tip, amg kit and the 17's. Cant wait to take her for a drive. Its in that MB lex interrior, the man made leather but it looks and feels the same as real leather so im one happy bunny :bannana: now I just need the weather to improve for the journey home tonight

Sounds great! Have fun, drive carefully:) I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine!

driving careful doesnt seem to make a difference :p my last car was an '03 plate 3 series coupe which got written off, I bought it and within days it developed a groaning noise on the brakes and sh*t loadsa brake dust on the wheels only a couple of days after being valeted and the clutch vibrated and it didnt idle properly when warm so i booked it in for warranty work on a saturday, the day before it let go on a corner when I was doing 40 behind a VW polo on a 60 road so its not even like i was speeding, wasn't touching the accelerator or anything and wahey stepping out time (I've driven a lot of RWD cars before so its not like i was being stupid and powering through a corner like a FWD car)

At 18, your insurance must be horrendous!

not at all, I variate with my mum, half the time she'll drive my merc, half the time ill drive her car, its about £1600 on both cars fully comp with my crash and her protected NCB for us both to drive each car 50/50. and hers isnt a cheap to insure car, it may be a vauxhall astra but its a brand new SRi 1.9 common rail TD (150ps) with the exterior pack so its not exactly slow or cheap itself but to be honest I don't call that bad when my friends are paying about 1500 quid on p reg 106 1.1's!!!!

I haven't been driving a year yet, first car was an escort si 1.8 (115 bhp as standard) with a few lil bits done to the engine plus silly amounts of bodywork which im sure you'd all hate :p ie. impreza blue respray, wide arches etc etc Then enginewise it had a sports cat, chip, induction and cat back system so it was running 132 bhp.

Next came the '03 plate BMW 318 SE coupe (two litre, 143bhp) which was less reliable than my escort!!! And now obviously, the merc :) which I will decide on the drive home tonight :p

wooo! loving it, went for a proper drive last night, it was raining, dark and miserable but still :) very good! Just feels funny with it being my first auto, still trying to get used to working the tiptronic without drive taking back over, when I try putting it through gears it doesnt seem to want to change :s i guess I'll get used to it :) pretty glad I didn't bother with the Harmon Kardon system, the standard spec is pretty good, not quite as full sounding as I'd like but brilliant for a standard system, outperforms my 3 series

Corrr, you lucky so and so!

When I was 18 I was driving round in a 8-year old Peugeot 104. Every other weekend it would be out with the grinder to grind off the rust, then some Jenolite on the bare metal, then filler, coffee while that dried, then sand it down, then primer, coffee while that dried, then undercoat, coffee while that dried, then top coat. Phew!

Still happy days though!

Enjoy your new toy!!

My first car was a Viva that cost £500 (which was a lot then!), then a Mk4 cortina and at age 19 an Alfa Romeo Sud Super 1.5 which I still love even now!

i was a fortunate 18 year old too - my uncle worked for ford so i used the discount to buy a ford fiesta zetec s in bright red, with a years free insurance. 1.6 and very quick for a young'un.

then had an a class at 21 and now a few more years on I have my 203. all i have to do now is keep earning enough to pay for it!

Shouldn't you be saving up for a house? :D

My Peugeot 104 was, when I was 18, my fourth car.

The first was a (free) Honda N360, a very rare microcar that made Minis look big. There were a few N600s around, but this had the smaller engine. Engine rebuild thwarted by wrong size pistons, so gave it to my cousin who got it roadworthy and used it for a few years.
Then there was the Morris Minor. Fun but in a very dated slow retro way.
Then there was the Hillman Hunter. Whose engine promptly seized on me when the oil pump failed.
Then came the little Pug!

Going from a Cortina to a Sud must have been a very pleasant swap! :D
