Hi

Im looking for a pair of new/used aftermarket front seats for a W202. The OEM seat are fine, but im looking for something with a bit more back/side support. I recently looked at getting a used set from the interior of a c43 amg, but the cost of the electric seat conversion was way too much.

Any idea if I can slot in a set of cobra/recaro's or similar in the front with minimal fuss ?

Cheers

I personally think that C43 seats are the way to go. It's the only mod I would consider breaking my not to spend any more unnecessary money on an old car rule for.

However one member has got Recaro's in his C36. I try and find some pictures. They have all the power controls built in, so apart from power I expect that's it for wiring.

Aftermarket seats

The only seats I'd fit would be Recaros. They are expensive but they last well and I had one set fitted in three cars in succession

You need subframes for aftermarket seats and these can be expensive - £220 for a subframe for a W124 back in 1998!

I'd look at the Recaro range, find a model & finish you like then try & buy them in Germany. It's possible to buy them secondhand - German eBay has a thriving market in them - but they're still expensive. UK eBay Recaros tend to be OEM seats from Astra GTEs and Escort RSes and they're not as good as the ones Recaro sell to end-users

It may or may not surprise you to read that MB's seats are also made by recaro, even the soft, boring cloth ones.
