I assume all of the 'O' rings are in the correct place on the filter post ? I get my filters from MB and there is always an extra 'O' ring in the kit supplied. Thee is no where for to go on my car so it just gets put in 'stock' .
I just assume there might be a different design on other MB cars many of which use this filter configuration.

We have the same type of oil filter housing.
I suspect mechanic did something wrong when he fit the new filter or O-rings not fitted properly or gone missing that's why oil lamp is staying ON after start?
I got an appointment with the dealer I will take my car back.
I worry about the dead display not showing the outside temperature.
Could it be a fried bulb or an all dead display?
Cars from MY2000 fitted with the new style tiptronic gearbox had display issues with dead pixles in cluster.
Mine is the old style pre-tiptronic, I have never heard about display problems on cars up to MY1999, these seeme to be more durable?
The electronic problems could they be related to a broken OVP (OverVoltageProtection relay) which is fitted on the alternator?
But then it would fry everything and not charge the battery correct If I'm right?
