Hi,
im on a mission to buy a w124 at the moment. I have found a nice car locally a 1989 E320 with 90k,leather good bodywork and the wiring loom just replaced. The only thing is it has no cruise. As i have a gammy right leg (long story but now have a new knee fitted) i find it easier to drive long distances with cruise control. I have found this company that says they can do it for me for just over £500
Aftermarket Cruise Control Kits | Conrad Anderson UK

has anyone used them or know of any other recognised system I could look at
Thanks in advance

Clive

Are you sure it is a E320? I didn't think they made them that early. There are plenty out there with tempomat (cruise) already fitted aren't you better off just waiting for one of those to come along?

Must be a late one that didn't get registered for a while, good find.

Jeremy Stevens, Technical Director for the Mercedes-Benz Club has recently written a detailed article in the Gazette on how to retrofit cruise control to a W124, using only genuine M-B parts. Suggest you contact the Club for details on membership. They will send you a free copy of the relevant Gazette as part of your membership package if you ask. I also cannot believe that car is 1998.

IF you post the full VIN up here (it can be seen from outside the car in the lower front screen) someone will check it out the delivery date for you.

I believe the last 124's in the UK were 'N' registered, never seen one later that 1995.

You get newer, Indian built, imports but I thought they were all four cylinder or diesel variants.

I saw a 1998 S reg W124, it was a E220. I know the person who bought it. It was unregistered, the last one with the dealer in wolverhampton. When he bought it, they registered it, it came with the S registration!
Its still around, although my 300CE is in better condition.

Hi
just to clarify the year ,I have found out that it was first registered in 1998 but manufactured earlier in 1995. The story is it went to Ireland first and came back after 2 years and was registered then with dvla. The car is an E320 made in 1995 but first registered in 1998
Hope this clears the confusion

Clive

That figures, sounds like a really good find, some pictures when you can please.

That would probably explain why cruise wasn't specified, Ireland's roads don't really suit it. If it was previously registered, even outside the country, I thought it would still have an age related plate allocated by DVLA.

Just re-read your post, I'm guessing that it was first registered in Ireland in 1998, not the UK.
