Hi all, I'm trying to fix my heater blower on my '96 w124 E280 auto estate. I reckon I have an aftermarket a/c install (no record in Log book, sharp edges on cutout for the central buttons) and the heater fan will blow its fuse if turned past '2'. Before that it would make a chirpy bearing noise when on.
It sounds like I'll have to remove the dash to get at the fan, which looks pretty scary, and I'm guessing getting a local indie to do it will cost more than I paid for the car.
Has anyone any great magical tips that could help me? - I'm thinking maybe if I could get some lube in there it may free up the cages/loosen the bearings. Is this possible? what is the minimum amount of dash removal that I can do to get at the fan? Or am I just scuppered?
Thanks for any input
