HI Guys

I today change the battery on my 2012 S204 C250 cdi.

All went well, turned the car back on and now the air back light is flashing and the warning "passenger restraint systems is inoperative consult manual"

What on earth has happened and is there any way to reset this without a scan tool?

Thanks

The short answer is no, there is no way to reset this without a 'decent' scan tool.

In fact, the last time I was faced with a flashing airbag light, I need star diagnostic to 'lock' the SRS module as it became unlocked due to an effort to clear the code due to a faulty seat sensor.

Good luck.

What's the best way to change main battery avoiding issues ?

I would think feed the car with 12V from another battery or charger, or from a 9V 'memory saver' apparatus? They became common in the eighties (when car radios started having anti-theft codes).

Do check you haven’t disturbed the connections on the battery terminals. The airbag system includes detonators in the terminals that fire to disconnect the battery in a severe impact
