    Hi all.

Just noticed my car sounding like a bag of bolts. Lifted up the bonnet and the air box is rattling around.

All the clips are on and it seems solid enough in place ?

But when the engine is on, it moves like a rat on a hot plate

I take it you mean the air filter housing - are there a couple of screws inside, under the filter, connecting it to the engine or a bracket?

    Item 71 here... Êàòàëîã MERCEDES
on my ML 270cdi (2 of them)

Have you thought about having a look to see why it is loose?

Does not seem loose. All the bolts and clips are tight. It just seems to vibrate a lot unless the engine is vibrating to much

It's usually the air feed to the box, I put a screw through them to hold them together.

Ok. Thanks. Will have a look at that the weekend. Also get a good engine shudder when I turn the engine off

On my 220CDI (basically the same engine with a cylinder sawn off), the rear of the airbox is held on with two pegs into holes on the mounting bracket. These holes should have rubber grommets in to prevent rattles: mine were missing.
