Air Con Compressor

Hi all,
The compressor on myW220 never switches off.
When I press the EC button (light on) the compressor should stop spinning, but it doesn't.

Any one come across this and have any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

what do you mean stop spinning? the pulley wont stop as its attached to the rest of the V belt, there is just an electromagnetic clutch which means the pump is shut off if you press EC...

I think that they stay coupled up on later cars all the time

I'm comparing it to my old W208 and current W202.
On both of those, pressing the EC button would shut off the spinning of the compressor, you could physically see it stop spinning.
Was expecting the same on my 220.

Can any other W220 owners confirm what happens with theirs?
