Air Con dial question

Can anybody tell me what the dot on the fan dial (shown in the yellow square in the photo) relates to? It is a notch for the dial, but I can't work out what it is supposed to do.

Hi,
The first position on your fan speed dial I believe is vents open but no fan, the "O" is no fan, vents closed

No replies so I'll take a stab.

I think that this opens all flaps to allow external air into the car - temperature as per temperature setting, but without fan assistance. Air volume is then governed by your speed.

As above its vents open but no fan. Quite useful for getting airflow ,either cool or hot, when the sunroof is tilted open. No aircon in this position.
