c220 cdi
just purchased a 2007 c220 diesel (w203?) and the seller informed me the air con needed topping up!
after visiting garage, they said it was full of gas and there was no pressure drop when air con was switched on which indicated that the pump/compressor was dead..... the seller (who works for Mercedes dealership) says it was rubbish as they seldom break and it was definitely the condenser instead?
who's telling the truth and how do I find out which it is?
thanks

You don't think the seller was spinning you a yarn to get rid of you, do you.... Find a car air con specialist and have it diagnosed properly.

Good luck with getting the seller to pay for the repair.

This suggests the Air Con system has a leak. :(

And this suggests theres no leak.

A common trick sellers use about dead AC systems is that they just need topping up, when in fact theres usually something else wrong with them, most common is a leaking condenser unit.

If the guy works for an MB dealership i suggest you take it to them to have it diagnosed and then tell the manager what kind of staff he's got working for him.

I bet he knew it was buggered when he sold it too you. if it had been a simple fix he would have got it done himself. I hate liars and so many around

private sale? you may well be on dodgy ground - make a claim through the small claims court - you might be lucky - if you win good for you - if you loose, move on. Life's too short.
