Ok I cant stay away because you lot are such knowledge, hence my post.....

The Galaxy bus I now got seems to only blow out slightly cool air and not what I would cool chilled air.

I have the car booked in for a re-gas and test this I dont mind paying myself. BUT... If its more serious like the pump/ compressor thats faulty should the supplying dealer have to pay. I got a 3 month warranty with the car but the booklet says the air con system isnt covered!

Would this come under the sale of goods act  .

Thanks all.

This thread is probably going to be more related to warranty conversation than aircon conversation, moving to OT section.

Ford owners!

Re-gassing seems to solve it for most people, it could be the system wasn't used through the winter. Not sure why you'd want chilled air at the moment though!

Hi Paul,
This might sound silly, but I believe you have only just purchased your Galaxy.

Have you actually gone back to the dealer and mentioned the fact that the air conditioning is 'suspect'.

I don't mean go in with all guns blazing. Perhaps a more subtle, "What a nice car, but..."

Topping up the system is as already discussed the usual problem and most large towns and cities have excellent air conditioning specialists that will check out the system.

Good luck,

Regards,
John

MAkesure it gets tested properly...If it is regassed when there is a more serious leak, it will proabably work until your warranty is over and then die again.... I would get it tested out yourself somewhere first...

I'm having it tested with the special dye and re-gassed next week, dealler says to let him know out come so will let you all know.

Because A/C also de-humidify's the air so the windows dont steam up when your cold, wet etc.

Lots of people think air-con is just a summer thing, but you should use it most of the time even with the heater turned up.

It's general lack of use that causes most air-con failures, thats why MB had the switch light up when you switch the air OFF.

This is a really good thread to all the how, why, when etc of car air conditioning:
Air-con

I have got this bloke coming today (Friday) as I thought it better to have a A/C specialist rather than just an odd job bloke at the local Ford dealer.

Will let you know the out come.

Well had my re-gas. I can only highly recomend the company . The man that came round explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. My air is now lovely and chilled.

Total cost was £70. This included gas testing, the ultra violet dye and a full vacuum and refill of the system.

The company is a family business that covers north Kent and surrounding areas.
