I've come across this errecom cool shot additive that supposedly makes everything more efficient when getting the air con regassed.
But is it just a fad that pushes up the price?

It reads that it’s added to systems to restore them , rather than when you get the gas/oil correctly removed and replaced by a specialist .

They seem to claim that if you use their product, the aircon gas (and oil) will never need to be changed for the life of the car. Interesting.

Yeh you have the normal re gas and then this cool shot is added for a more cooler air con than standard.. also claimed to better for all the pipework etc..

Lol on that note I'll give it a pass!

I've come across an air con service company who work out of their home address and they offer 3 levels of service starting from a basic re gas at £29 which is far cheaper than the main garages.. for an extra £20 the cool shot is added!

It costs approx half the price of a full air con service. Waste of money. If you have a car with air con that did work but now is 'underperforming' replace the cabin filter then take the car to a place that does a proper a/c service.

Example : I have just done a fair bit of aircon work on SWMBO ancient Zafira. took it to a bloke I trust to service a/c , he had it on vacuum for 45 minutes before moving on with the service , added lube and refrigerant, tested temp output from vents , ran sniffer over the system, checked with UV lamps , checked surface temperature of condenser for hot spots using UV camera.

On monitoring the high and low side he deduced there might be some kind of restriction in line but A/C working fine. told me to use a/c all of the time and wait for a few hot weather days then bring it back for a pressure check. I was with him chatting for 3 hours , £75 .

While the machine was doing its thing (while I kept out of his way) he replaced pads on the rear of a transit van and fixed a sticking seatbelt on a Citroen . So he was still quids in . He did the same a/c job - with the same attention to detail - on my C55 when I first bought it.

Or take it to the local tyre shop 🤔

Does he have a name? ;)

A website.....?
