AIR CON switch indicates OFF - permanently W220

Hello,

New to this Forum and wanted to start with a question regarding the aircon on my 2003 S350 (W220). The air con button has the little red light on, which indicates the air con is not working and no matter what I press it stays on. The ventilation system seems to be working, just no de-humidifying and icy cold air. Any thoughts to help me out please ?

is the system pressurised? if the pressure is below a certain level then it shuts down. Easiest thing to do is take it for a recharge, presumably its been working fine? They do sometimes need re charging after a few years.

Red led on the EC button you can't turn off means system is low on refrigerant or no refrigerant and it disables the system to stop the compressor running and prevent further damage. if you are lucky you will just need an air con regas (£40) if not it's likely to be a holed condenser. system also has to be reset with Star or similar after regas
