Does anyone know how many air filters there are on my E280 cdi, i got quoted £90 when i enquired for a service, now i've had the service they charged £27.70 ( which is good , ) but have they changed the wrong one?

There will be an engine air intake filter [probably the one fitted?] but also air intake filter/s for the cabin air conditioning which may not have been fitted. [one reason for this can simply be they didn't have one in stock?] It may be it wasn't due to be changed or its simply not regarded as an essential item but if a change forms part of the recommended service schedule and its not done then if you get problems in the future with the aircon you know who to blame??

Your car has 2 air filters fitted to the engine. The reason there is a difference in the price the first one is to just fit the air filters as job on its own so has a set time. The reason the second is cheaper is because it is being done with a service so in mercs eyes you already have part of the car stripped down to carry out the service so dont charge as much labour.
But the price thay have charged you £27.70 does seem a little to cheap but wouldnt worry about it they have probably cocked up the bill
