My W140 needs an air mass meter on the right bank (as you look at the engine from the front of the car), in your experiences is it worth buying a proper Bosch unit or would a much cheaper one from EuroCarParts do the same job just as well?

From memory the difference is Bosch £240 and ECP £80. If it where a little more or maybe even double I'd go for the Bosch but since there is such a huge gap I though I'd better check first in case I'm missing something.

Tread carefully. The ECP part may simply be the sensor insert rather than the whole unit. hence the difference in price. If the insert is made by PIERBURG or BOSCH then you will be OK since they are both OEM. Stay clear of EBAY stuff --some folks have been lucky but there are lots of cheap counterfeits from China out there. I'm not sure about MAF'S with a double inlet engines as to whether they have to be "matched" for best performance e.g. bosch/bosch or pierburg/pierburg :dk:

Hmm... Maybe it's best to spend the £240 on the proper Bosch part then.
I wouldn't buy any parts off eBay as they are usually rubbish but before I've bought bits from eurocarparts and they've been fine.

Not saying that the ECP parts wouldn't be perfectly OK. The inserts are easy enough to fit -couple of torx screws. http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/howto/25426-howto-mas-replacement-m112-v6-engine.html If matching was an issue ( and it may not be :dk:) even if you had to buy another £80 insert for the other bank you would still be cheaper than a full Bosch replacement?

get a bosch unit from ECP

They have option of Bosch or cheapo at euro car parts. cheapo ones will last 5 minutes if at all.

I made the mistake of getting the cheapo version form eurocarparts for my old W210 E55. It failed within 2 weeks and I sent it back got a refund and got the OEM part........it did last slightly longer than 5 mins
