Hi all, I'm looking for some advice regarding my rear air suspension , when the car is left overnight, the rear of the car sinks about 3 or 4 inches, and it raises again almost immediately after start up. I've had the car, an x218 2015 CLS350, scanned by a Mercedes specialist garage which found no faults ? This has started happening shortly after having a tow bar fitted by a reputable garage, could this be having an effect ? The car still drives nice, no clunks or rattles, any advice please ? TIA jimi

You have an air leak. STAR cannot detect air leaks, so no fault code is generated.

My w213 has air body control, would this be the same as the cls, if so how reliable are these.

You have Airmatic suspension on your W213, the same system as on my 2013 CLS. Rubber air springs eventually perish; the first one recently went on mine at just under 70K miles.

This is what I find staggering with many garages these days (not specific to MB dealers/specialists); a little actual investigative work would almost certainly find that the problem was an air leak, but because the 'computer' hasn't logged a fault, they say there's nothing wrong/ no fault found. :wallbash: (unless, of course, they were only asked to undertake a diagnostic check, but even then it shouldn't really be that difficult to advise the customer what it probably is).

It reminds me of going into a branch of a well-known car factor years ago (before all this order-online business) and asking for something; ''Sorry, we don't have any in stock, I could order it in' etc..

'There's one there on the shelf' (large shelves right beside me)

' Oh, um, ah, um, let's see - no, it won't let me process it because it says we don't have any in stock. Sorry. You could try later and the system might have been updated.'

Spot on, op says he has a problem with his suspension, if there is no fault code, why didn’t they put it in the ramp, and have a look at the suspension, i mean what is the point of being a car mechanic if they are not prepared to do the basics they have trained for.

This is pretty much exactly what's happened to me, and your sentiments had occurred to me as well. I wont be going back...
