Anybody know how difficult it is to replace an airbag? Have seen one on eBay with the Chrome star ... just wondering if switching them over is a diy job ?

Thanks,

Simon.

Won't that hurt when it hits you when it inflates? having a crome star on it.

no - its a facelift version one - the star is built into the cover - a lot of recalled models had this one fitted. There is a guy selling one on eBay who happens to have one spare - he's a merc mechanic and has offered to fit it for me if I win it, so no fitting advice needed now - thanks.

Like mine?

or is this just a different centre for your existing wheel?

sorry m8, missed this thread :S

I would have said, disconnect battery, 2 torx screws behind steering and remove airbag

it's easy

where did you get it done? or was it DIY?

.....the guy that sold it also fitted it for me - in a lay-by off the M4 !!

He seemed to know what he was doing - didn't bother dis-connecting the battery - took him all of 30 secs. He works for a dealer, and does loads of airbag swaps.... he was telling me that they can't throw away the old ones until they have been detonated, so they have great fun exploding them in parks and watching them fly 100ft into the air... hmmmmmm !!!! interesting pastime !!

No SRS light staying on and it seems fine.

Cheers anyway,

S.
