My 2003 ‘C’ Class C180K SE’s aircon condenser/drier has to be replaced, does the front bumper have to be removed to gain access?

You may be able to do it by removing the slam panel. Pulling the bumper off will give easier access, but there are lots of clips and stuff to deal with according to my A/C man who did my CLK.

Thank you, I’m just worried that the metal wings will get scratched upon removal and rust set it. They are perfect at present, also the front bumper was recently resprayed.

Like I said, my A/C guy prefers to leave the bumper on if he can. Less risk of clips breaking or paint damage. Are you doing this yourself ?

No, I’m not doing it and as you say paint damage is a big concern especially as the bumper is now mint.
I’d rather not have the aircon and just use the windows and sunroof to be frank.
