E220 Estate
I have a 2010 E220 estate that has a rear Airmatic fault. The car has springs/coils on the front but has airbags on the rear. The compressor in the boot doesn’t start when the car is started and shortly after an error message is outputted on the dash saying there is a malfunction with the system. I have checked fuses 12 & 68 which are not blown and the relay in the boot has 12v across the big terminals (30 & 87) when ignition on. There is NO reading from the two small wires though (85 & 86)? The ride height hasn’t altered by much in a week (dropped 20mm) so I don’t think the airbags are leaking excessively. My local garage have had a look at the car and have had the diagnostics machine on the car. When the car is running they have cleared the fault codes and the say they can feel the compressor try to start, but it doesn’t, however they didn’t put power directly to the compressor to prove that this wasn’t faulty either? But if the compressor was faulty surely this would have blown the big 40amp fuse? The malfunction message disappears when the ignition is switched off.

Anybody got any ideas? or Is this something for a Mercedes specialist to tackle?

Someone posted before that Land Rovers specialists are used to air suspension faults and cheaper than Mercedes, if that's any help?
