Now that I have lowered my S Class, I find the feature useful for big speed bumps and rough tracks.
But today I’m in a brand new steel sprung CLS. The wife has my car. That’s because the day after her ML was serviced, the Airmatic locked solid on her! Powering down and then powering back up seemed to cure the problem until this morning when the suspension went solid on her again! This is a ‘self preservation’ mode when there is an Airmatic control ECU problem. I hope they find the soft/hardware fault very soon, you would not believe how hard the lack of suspension is!
Anyone ever heard of this issue before? I’m told the air suspension on Range Rovers has been know to suffer something similar, but never heard of it on a Mercedes and I have two with Airmatic.
