Hi Have a W211 E320CDi with the airmatic suspension, recently warning light( Take to workshop) has come on and at first level didnt change however the car has lowered right down on all 4 wheels still drivable taken to local Garage to check fuses.

Garage ( not mercedes no local independent) they are advise that the motor starts when car is first started then cut out making a grunting type sound after starting car and then goes off but car still does not rise, check fuses in car and drivers footwell they are ok could it be the relay... Dont want to buy a new pump if it could be another issue.

Have seem on one post where the battery was taken off for half a hour then retried.

Question can you test the pump independently without star and also would the relay cause this issue or do you think pump has seen better days.

Have gone via the forum ie test fuses , however would the relay make the pump not work only for about 30 second and then shut off.


All thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated

These issues are almost always the pumps letting go.. You need to check for leaks too.. much easier if you can get it on a star machine.

When pump is replaced, the relay must also be done.

I take it the relay must be still working then ?

Also what is the cost to be put on star machine and have the pump replaced.
