Hello All

After receiving my stolen Merc back, I wish to install a new alarm to make it much more difficult for some toerag to steal it again. At the moment a factory alarm is fitted.

It should have an alarm and immobiliser, preferably with some paging device. Some guy has offered to install a TOAD AI606 for £299. Does this sound reasonable, and is it any good?

What has eveyone else got and what would be an effective system for my car (a 1991 300CE-24)? I don't mind spending around £300 including fitting.

Cheers

When I used to have my own workshop, we used to fit an 'Active 8' immobiliser.
It cuts out 2 circuits (such as fuel pump and starter motor).
I have 1 left in the shed going cheap if you want it.
There is a secret touch pad hidden wherever you want in the car to be able to start the car.
PM me if interested.

Cheers Frank - what was that website address again? I cannot get it to work.

Sorry Frank, still no good. Can you go to the website in your browser and then copy the address in the address bar at the top and paste it into this forum. I have tried various combinations and none work.

Ive always found the clifford range of Alarms to be the nuts, as long as you have a good installer, most CAT1 alarms will be good, also add a secondary CAT2 immobaliser wired in a different place to really confuse the theif who thinks he is clever!

Cobra alarms - are they any good? There's a place in Chingford near me that specialises in them and were quoting around 240 quid I think. Also some guy I know can fit a Toad AI606 for £289. Does that sound good?

Jon, give Suki a Call on 07831348015 (prestige car specialists), he is an authorised clifford dealer(was anyway!), in east london, but will recomend the best system for your car. Advantage is that he know the merc electrics inside out, so you can be sure he will do a good job. the place you mention in chingford is supposed to be very good as well, I know a few people who have had cliffords fitted from there.

Great, thanks Alps - I'll call Suki too. I much prefer to go to a Mercedes specialist.

Can recommend Suki in East London for Alarms!

Hi, after waiting to get the cash to get the alarm replaced, I went to Suki as recommended by Alps and can thoroughly recommend him. First of all he was honest by saying that he can probably fix my existing Scorpion alarm rather than fitting a new one as I had originally asked. Then he managed to fit me in straight away and called me soon after to say that the problem was due to a faulty wire and he reconditioned the whole thing. I had asked TOAD to examine the alarm previous to this and they said the alarm was knackered. In summary I was reassured by the fact that Suki is a Mercedes specialist and gladdened that he was honest from the start. Recommended.
