The siren is around a £100, is the extra £30 for fitting?
If it were me I would fit a new alarm siren, if the problem still persists then spend more money on diagnosis.

When the alarm goes off, is there any pattern, time wise, does it go off straight away or does it stay silent for a period of time.

This could be a mouse or a spider or a fault of some kind other than within the siren, however, the garage couldn’t find the fault or reports of a fault in the diagnosis so the likelihood is that the alarm siren is the culprit. Unexplained triggering of the alarm is a very common fault when the alarm siren gets old.

Yes, just plug it in just like it is done in the video above.
Are you going to fit it yourself or will an MB dealer fit it?

myself

When you fit it yourself, when locking with the remote, the siren will chirp 3 times when you lock, it will chirp one time when you unlock. Locking arms the alarm, unlocking disarms the alarm.

If an MB dealer fits the siren for you then the may will turn off the locking chirps, and charge you a large sum of money for doing so, and may tell you that the siren needs to be coded or programmed to the car.

There is a security bolt on the siren that requires a special tool to remove, however, you may be able to undo it with Vice grips / Mole grips as was done in the video above. An easy job to do, just plug and play. Have the car unlocked and the key out of the ignition when you are fitting the siren.
