Have a 2004 clk cabriolet and for some reason when i lock the car via the key fob, the alarm sometimes silently flashes. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't.

Any ideas, help, would be appreciated.

What flashes, the alarm LED or the indicators?

Being a cabriolet I assume you can lock the car with and without the alarm (two modes) have you checked your handbook to see what it says regarding this aspect?

The indicators flash and also the lights on the wing mirrors but no noise. Not sure if it is because of the wind??

Alarm siren may have expired.

Test by locking yourself inside the car with the remote control, remain still for one minute to allow the alarm to arm itself properly then open a door and or bonnet, the siren should sound and all the hazards should flash, if the siren doesn’t sound then that’s likely to be the cause of the fault.

I tied this and all the hazards etc go mental but there is no sound. How would you advise to fix?

Hazards flashing very fast presumedly?
As you have intentionally triggered the alarm, then the siren should also have sounded, as it did not then its likely to be faulty and causing the hazards to flash.
If it is similar to either of the Black sirens in the picture below then replacing the siren should bring the alarm system back to working order.

The siren costs about £80 from an MB dealer, if you want to fit it yourself, it just plugs in while the car is in the unlocked state.

In the mean time you can just remove and unplug it from the car to solve your immediate problem.

It will have back up batteries inside it so it might go off while it is disconnected.

Been there worn that T shirt.
Disconnect the siren pronto.
The next problem you will have is a flat battery.
The original MB replacement unit set me back £100.
Half hour to fit it.
And because they have improved upon the original, I now get three discreet chirps when setting the alarm and one chirp when unsetting, all in unison with the flashers, nice touch.

Is the only solution to go into a merc dealer or can i order the part myself? If so, any idea where? The car is a mercedes clk200 elegance 2004 reg.

Bring your VIN number to any MB dealer and ask for a replacement siren and fit it yourself, that’s what I did last year, it doesn’t have to be coded, just bolt it on and plug it in.
Note, your siren may not have the same part numbers as the ones in the picture above or the old one that you remove from the car so be sure to bring your VIN, also don’t be tempted to fit a second hand siren as its false economy.

The car should be unlocked when you fit it, the Red alarm light on the switch will glow steady after you plug it in, putting the key into the ignition or locking and unlocking the car with the remote will turn the Red alarm light off and complete the job.

There are instructions in this thread here… Alarm Siren!! [URGENT PROBLEM] - Mercedes-Benz Forum

According to the link above, it is located on the passenger side… if your car is a right hand drive car.

You have to jack up the car, remove the wheel and remove the wheel arch liner to gain access to the siren, about an hours work.
