I have just bought a 1995 R129 SL500.
The alarm does not work, but the immobiliser does work. I have taken out the siren box and opened it up. The batteries have discharged some of their contents onto the printed circuit board. I have cleaned the pcb with electrical cleaner spray but it is not in good condition. Whilst doing that the two wires from the battery pack became detached from the pcb and I can't figure out where to solder them back on.
I have supplied power directly from a 12v battery to the two terminals on the siren and it works. However, even if I buy a new battery pack I do not know if the pcb is any good. My next thought was to look for another siren box, but I can't find one like it on ebay. It has a MB logo and the part number is Q3 50 06364. I would like to fit a similar replacement which I can just plug in using the existing wiring. If I can't obtain one I could buy a universal alarm kit, but I would rather not have 2 remotes on the key ring.
Does anyone know if a different model of siren box will fit my car?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
