Hi Alfie, thought I'd bring this out onto the main forum so that it could help others if they have the same issue ever.

I wanted to ask you about this minor problem I'm having with that new disc 6.6, I put it in the COMAND just now, and it said it was installing (which it did successfully) it turned itself on and off and all that - but now, when I put in a destination it says it's unable to navigate to that place. If I do a brand new search for my own postcode it almost looks like it's off line (not picking up the signal) and it just stays there for ages doing nothing.

I previously had a tom tom before this car and sometimes it would lose its signal - is that ever a problem with the COMAND units? I never had a problem before with the 2.1 version though.
I even tried driving it up and down the road to see if it would kick it into life, but nothing.

I can select all the options, so it's not hanging or frozen- it even has all my destinations that were on the old version, but when I select any destination it just tells me it's calculating the route and stays there forever doing that till I select something else!

Any ideas? Is it worth me trying to install it again? (not that I know how to do that!)

(I have to put a disclaimer here though to say it's probably nothing to do with the unit or disc, it's probably just me being very stupid!)

Can you select MAP then press one of the soft keys adjacent to the screen. Press DISPLAY then MAP. Select current location info. Tell us how many satellites it is seeing. Should be four or more. Wait a few minutes.

OK will do and I'll get back to you...

I think it 'may' be because it was set to German to begin with (although the words etc were all in English?) so I'm going to turn it back on again in a second and do that map thing....I'll take some photos if I'm not sure of something to show you what it's doing.

Ok, so I changed the German to Great Britain and it seemed to be picking up road names etc, fine. But when I navigated to a local high street to test it, this is what came up:

Why is it still in German Alfie?? *wail*

Looks to me like it is now in English Language but the car doesn't know where it is - ie it is not seeing the satelites.

I would drive it around for 5 mins - just go the shops and back :) and see if it picks up its location properly then :)

...but without my navigation working properly, not sure I'll find the shops - I really may end up somewhere in Germany! ;)

LOL yes, OK I'll go to the shops and see if that makes it pick up that I am in GB not Germany! Silly COMAND!!

Ditto on the satellite suggestions, like Alfie posted if you could get the current location info banner on the bottom of the screen and see what its looking at.

Will probably sort itself once your on the move, is the car under shade or indoors at the moment?

Hi folks, well you guys were right (of course :) ) and it was because I must be in a bit of a black spot, just my road apparently, because right up until I turned off of my road it thought I was in Germany and was desperately trying to calculate the route - but then when I turned out of the junction it suddenly picked up that I was in the UK.

Thanks for the help :)
Emma

You'll be able to find your way to Bluewater now then!

With a massive displacement between the real and the calculated coordinates, I was about to suggest that it must have been the Flux Capacitor. Those babies are always causing this kind of trouble.

It should be okay from now on.
