I know what the purist's answer will be, but is it an absolute no-no to fit all season tyres (Hankook Optimo 4S) to the rear only on a C200cdi?

You might have drive but what about the steering/braking?

    That's what I'm asking.

Current advice is to fit the newest tyres to the rear - the logic being that understeer is more likely than oversteer if there is loss of control.

If you're only going to fit two all-seasons, might as well be on the rear!

Thanks. In the past when the roads have had their traditional half inch of snow bringing the country (well, the south of it anyway) to a halt, lack of progress is usually caused by spinning rear wheels rather than the front ploughing straight on.

Tesco are doing some good deals right now, sourcing their tyres from Black Circle. Quadruple points, Mrs. Stratman will like that. ;)
