Hi all,

Whilst avoiding a 7.5tonne box van on a building site this morning, I did this to one of my Himalayan Grey 16 spoke 19inch alloy. I've just received a quote from Merc of £569.05 to get it replaced, and they've said over the phone that they wouldn't advise a repair on this car (although they have yet to see it).

Is something like this generally repaired? It was a low speed chip, so not much in the way of force going into the wheel (wouldn't have thought its cracked). If so, could anyone recommend somewhere around Cardiff?

Maybe they included a new tyre in their quote?

Your location made me laugh, I feel like I have moved in sometimes when passing through.

The wheel looks like it will repair easily enough - the damage looks like a gouge rather than a hard 'bang' which could've cracked it, but obviously I wasn't there! A good wheel restorer should be able to check for cracks using dye.

The tyre looks shot though, assuming that's an actual split under the 'Continental' logo.

Looks easily repairable to me.

As others have said, the wheel looks repairable, but the tyre not so good.

Stealer quote £569 for a small alloy chip, yep sounds about right:thumb:

I would expect any competent alloy wheel specialist could repair...not sure about your tyre.
